Washington and Oregon bolster security for the 2024 election by mobilizing the National Guard due to escalating concerns over political violence and ballot box arson. It is Interesting that these two states are moving to do this as both will likely vote for Harris. What are they anticipating?

Washington Activates National Guard

Washington’s Governor Jay Inslee has taken the proactive step to activate the National Guard in response to recent ballot box fires and heightened political tensions as the 2024 General Election approaches. Recent incidents of arson in Vancouver, Washington, as well as Portland, Oregon, have underscored the need for increased security measures. The National Guard will assist local law enforcement and State Patrol in ensuring the election proceeds without disruption.

Governor Inslee’s decision aligns with warnings from Homeland Security regarding the potential for political violence and threats to the election infrastructure. With Washington’s decision, Guard members will be on standby from November 4 through November 7 to ensure readiness at any given moment. These actions mark the state’s determination to avoid any repeat incidents of election-related unrest.

Oregon Follows Suit in Election Preparation

In Oregon, Governor Tina Kotek is maintaining a similar vigilance. The state’s National Guard remains on standby and will coordinate with law enforcement agencies to fortify election security. Past incidents, such as vandalism of ballot drop boxes in Portland, bring to light the possibility of further unrest. Oregon has not yet deployed the Guard but is ready to do so if necessary to maintain public order.

“The governor’s office is closely monitoring and coordinating with local, state and federal agencies to ensure Oregon voters can safely cast their ballot.” – Gov. Tina Kotek

Oregon State Police, alongside Portland law enforcement and the Department of Emergency Management, have increased their presence to ensure voter safety. Their efforts are supported by a precautionary strategic plan put in place to protect vital election-related infrastructure.

Addressing Potential Unrest in Portland

In anticipation of potential unrest, Portland authorities, led by Mayor Ted Wheeler, have prepared for multiple scenarios, including the prospect of protests. A unified command team has canceled all police leave during election week to guarantee adequate staffing.

“We all deeply believe in our community’s right and ability to exercise free speech, and I believe the vast majority of Portlanders want to come together to do so peacefully.” – Mayor Ted Wheeler

  1. Wonder if the governors of these “northwestern states” are afraid that democrats are going to riot again, like they did a couple of years ago. So much for democratic fairness, I guess.
