The comedian joked that Melania looked like an “expectant widow” and called Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller “Baby Hitler.” ABC previously suspended Kimmel last September after he falsely blamed Trump supporters for an assassination that killed Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
The remarks took a dark turn when, just days later, a 31-year-old teacher attempted to assassinate President Trump at the actual White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington. Viral footage captured Melania’s terrified reaction as gunshots rang out in the ballroom where she sat beside the President.

Melania Trump issued a pointed statement condemning the network and host. She described Kimmel’s rhetoric as “hateful and violent,” adding that “his words are corrosive and deepen the political sickness within America.” The First Lady accused ABC of enabling Kimmel’s behavior, stating “a coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him.”
